They have transformed this 3,000 square foot home and south shore location into one of the most desired oceanfront vacation homes on Kauai. Their loving attention to detail is strikingly evident from the expertly kept landscape to the hand picked paintings and tasteful Hawaiian memorabilia that are expertly staged within this well loved and cherished private residence.
A Half Acre of Tropical Paradise
A lush and meticulously cared for garden greets you as you enter the gates of Hale A Kai. The feeling of being carried away to a very tranquil time and place is immediate. Varieties of majestic palms are surrounded by ti, orchid, croton, anthurium, lauae fern, and much more. The half acre garden winds about the house surrounding the pool area and then opens to a 170 foot expanse that fronts the ocean - complete with tide pools and a small sandy beach. From here the views of South Kauai’s best surf breaks beckon, but with the nicknames of “Heroins” and “Acid Drop” these breaks call only to the experienced surfer.
Ocean Views from Every Room…
Breathtaking ocean views are inescapable from every room in Hale A Kai and no more evident than when you walk through the front door. Expansive windows that run the length of the great room immerse you in the ocean’s proximity and grandeur. Hale A Kai’s entryway opens to a split-level floor plan with Cherry paneled vaulted ceilings. Fine craftsmanship and attention to every detail, one can’t help but feel the welcome and aloha exuding from the very structure of this fine vacation home itself.
The Great Room
The Great Room conversation “pit” invites one to just lounge, visit or read a favorite novel. The home has an ample library of novels, guides to local activities, Hawaiiana and video faire. There is a 46” TV and BluRay DVD player and a fully equipped entertainment center and iPod dock for indoor and outdoor audio enjoyment with a centralized remote. All systems within the home have easy to follow, well-documented usage guidelines. Stepping from the great room through the sliding doors onto the Ipe covered lanai one will glimpse sea turtles swimming peacefully by, local fisherman casting their nets, frolicking dolphins, amazing sunrises and sunsets and during the winter months Humpback whales.
Three Private Bedroom and Bath Suites
Enjoy time together in spacious comfort or retreat to the tranquility of your private suite and lanai. The three private suites are located in the upper levels of Hale A Kai. The master bedroom and bath is in one wing, while the other two bedrooms occupy the opposite wing for maximum privacy. Each suite bears Hale A Kai’s signature of quality and attention to detail that are typically only found in luxury 5-Star hotels including custom décor, fine furnishings, wall-mounted flat-screen televisions, louvered windows for privacy, ceiling fans, granite and travertine bathroom surfaces. Each upper level wing of Hale A Kai has its own laundry facilities and there is a safe located in the Master Suite.
Office Alcove
Between the bedroom wings in the upper level is a cozy and functional office alcove, complete with wireless internet connection, telephone and fax machine. But with Kauai and all its splendor calling you, it will be difficult to find the time to work.
The Kitchen
For those guests that fancy the culinary arts, Hale A Kai’s kitchen has the perfect palette. Looking out to the Great Room, the kitchen is surrounded by a granite and travertine bar with seating for two and is fully equipped with state-of-the-art KitchenAid appliances including a Gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, side-by-side refrigerator and trash compactor. All are at ones’ disposal as your epicurean masterpiece is created. And while one prepares an epic island feast you can adjust the Kitchen CD/DVD/TV player for your favorite movie or surround yourself with the soothing sounds of slack key guitar (or whatever music suits you), all within arms reach. The ‘gourmet meal’ can be served and enjoyed in the adjacent dining area that seats six or on the covered lanai (seating for 8) while you enjoy the warm tropical breeze and stunning ocean views.
Private Gym & Spa
Hale A Kai is equipped with a private gym located on the ground level. A ceiling mounted TV accompanies you during your workout on the elliptical machine or free weights, or as an evening’s retreat with a favorite beverage, one can relax in the 4 person hot tub with views of the ocean and magnificent sunsets.
Pool Area
It doesn’t matter if you prefer sunbathing on the beach or in a comfortable lounge chair beside the pool, at Hale A Kai you’ll have access to both. The refreshing private seaside pool has ocean views and is surrounded by lush, tropical landscaping. Lounge in the shade of a palm tree on the sandy beach just steps from the pool fronting the ocean. There are tide pools for exploring Kauai’s wide variety of colorful marine life.
The poolside area is also perfect for late afternoon barbecues and outdoor entertaining on the provided gas grill. Enjoy viewing local pleasure craft as they sail past Hale A Kai and into an epic Poipu sunset. For your convenience there is an outdoor bathroom and changing area adjacent to the pool.

Hale A Kai is well equipped with state-of-the-art technologies for your comfort and convenience. There are reference guides and mounted instructions to make using all of the features throughout the home user-friendly. In addition to the indoor/outdoor sound system, there is a centralized remote, an iPod docking station, radio controlled clocks (no re-set required), wireless internet, lighting and fan controls and a 46” flat screen TV with Blu Ray DVD.
